Minkus, Don Quijote: Budapest Spring Festival
O wydarzeniu
The Hungarian State Opera House presents Minkus' ballet "Don Quijote" as part of the Budapest Spring Festival.
A composition from the golden age of classic Russian ballet, this interpretation of Cervantes’ epoch‐making novel is a perennial favourite. With music by Ludwig Minkus and choreography by Marius Petipa, Don Quijote premiered in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre in 1869. The original was later reworked for the tsar’s Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg, and all versions performed today essentially rely on this adaptation by Alexander Gorsky (1900–1902). Performed by the greatest stars of classic ballet in the past century, there can be little doubt that Don Quijote is one of the peaks in the art of dance.
