Whether she turns to chamber music, the orchestra, or the opera, Kaija Saariaho couples delicate gestures with broad, open forms. This concert series is a window which opens to reveal some of her secret gardens.

The 'Intimate Voices' evoked by Sibelius' Quartet in D minor are those of introspection. Reflecting on other aspects of intimacy, Saariaho's chamber music offers an occasion for focusing on sound material and ways of creating it.
