Star tenor Jonas Kaufmann will sing Winterreise by Franz Schubert this season at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona's famous Opera House.

Winterreise, the finest song cycle in history, has been performed more often than any other. Each of the twenty‐four songs, based on poems by Wilhelm Müller, is a world in itself, an opera in miniature, imbued with unique emotional intensity. The power of every note, rest and bar lends it a depth of meaning that makes this cycle a veritable monument to the Lied.
