John Cranko: The Taming of the Shrew

John Cranko's ballet "The Taming of the Shrew" is based on Shakespeare's classic comedy and will be performed by the ballet company of the Finnish National Opera.
The fiery‐tempered and outspoken Katharina must be found a husband before her younger sister Bianca, who has no shortage of suitors. The self‐confident Petruchio undertakes to tame the strong‐willed Katharina, and a battle of the sexes ensues. But who wins?
This popular work by John Cranko for the Stuttgart Ballet is based on one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies. It is a Renaissance romp full of energy, vivacious characters and broad humour.
