John Adams' 'El Niño', the Christmas oratorio of our time, tells the story of the birth of Christ, but from the perspective of the mother with a contemporary twist.

Often politically charged, the work goes beyond the usual Bible stories to explore more universal themes using old and new texts and poetry in English, Latin, and Spanish: an experience of uninhibited beauty.
