Idomeneo, Re di Creta (in concert): Theater an der Wien
O wydarzeniu
One of the most important masterworks for Theater an der Wien conducted by one of the best conductors of 18th century repertory compositions.
René Jacobson had a great influence on the profile of the Theater an der Wien during the past years. For the new theatre's tenth birthday he will be conducting Mozart's "Idomeno."
Mozart composed "Idomeno" for the carneval at the court of Munich in 1781. He connected forms of French opera with those of Italian opera and added a choir and a ballet.
The psychologically challenging situations of the characters can be seen in the sound of the orchestra: a father who has to sacrifice his son, a son who, against the will of his father, loves a sad and captivated princess, an offended princess and an enraged god.
