Gergiev, Capuçon & Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra: Shostakovich, Salle Pleyel
O wydarzeniu
French cellist Gautier Capuçon joins Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra of St.Petersburg in this last of three concerts featuring the symphonic oeuvre of Shostakovich.
The composer's harsh wit comes through clearly in the First Cello Concerto; his softer side can be heard in the Sixth Symphony, which has the unique quality of beginning with a slow movement. The saturnine, mysterious Tenth Symphony, written shortly after Stalin's death, will close the concert and the series.
