Elegaic songs by Grieg & Knigge plus Janácek's 'Intimate Letters'

The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra led by violinist Gordan Nikolić will be joined by mezzo‐soprano Barbara Kozelj for a program of songs by Grieg, Janáček, and Knigge.

There is a special bond between text and music that will be explored in the works featured on this program. The unparalleled beauty of the songs of Edvard Grieg in an arrangement by Max Knigge, in addition to Leoš Janáček's Second String Quartet in which the 64‐year‐old composer releases his intense feelings for a young student captured in more than 700 letters.

The concert opens with a special personal connection — Lex Bohlmeijer wrote poetic texts on the life of the Slovenian singer Barbara Kozelj which were set to music by Max Knigge. Barbara will appear as the soloist herself this evening.
