Inspired by the great saxophonist Wayne Shorter, Children of the Light brings together three artists who belong to Shorter’s musical family. Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, and Terri Lyne Carrington celebrate the music of their mentor and friend and introduce new compositions. The name of the trio is a play on Shorter’s Children of the Night, a piece that first appeared on Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers’ album Mosaic in 1961.
