Bach & Combattimento Consort Amsterdam: Valletta Baroque Festival
O wydarzeniu
The exciting baroque ensemble Combattimento Consort Amsterdam will present works by Johann Sebastian Bach under the baton of artistic leader Jan Willem de Vriend at the Jesuit Church.
The Combattimento Consort Amsterdam is a closely‐knit group of musicians (consort), who dare to take on the battle (combattimento) of voice against voice. A Baroque ensemble that takes advantage of oppositions, thereby collectively creating something beautiful, in which contrasts lead to an intensely pleasurable experience. An ensemble that bridges the gap between players and audience with its fresh musical individuality.
Built at the height of the baroque period in 1565, Valletta not only served as a powerful fort, but also became a centre for culture, economics and politics in the world. The Valletta International Baroque Festival has been conceived purposely as a celebration of this baroque identity of Valletta. During the two week festival, Valletta will resound with music from the period when it was built. The high calibre programmes will be held at the Teatru Manoel, one of the oldest working theatres in Europe, and in magnificent cathedrals and atmospheric Valletta churches. Enjoy wonderful orchestral concerts, chamber music, opera and theatre performances at this year's Valletta International Baroque Festival.
