A special event: Russian pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja joins the Artemis Quartet for a performance of Brahms' ardent Piano Quintet.

The Brahms will be preceded by Schubert's haunting quartet Death and the Maiden, written only four years before his own death. Its lugubrious, dramatic tonality contrasts completely with that of Kurtag's score, an hommage to Hungarian composer Szervánszky.
