O wydarzeniu

The oratorio Ponte dell’angeli is born from the meeting between the evocative power of poetic language and the expressive depth of music, in a dialogue rooted in the spiritual and cultural memory of Rome. The text by the celebrated poet Mario dell’Arco is interwoven with the music of Maestro Aurelio Porfiri, giving rise to a composition conceived for soloists, female choir, string quartet, and piano.

The work unfolds as a contemplative journey along Ponte Sant’Angelo, a symbolic place of the Eternal City, here reinterpreted as a space for meditation on the Passion of Our Lord. The famous angelic statues become stages in an inner path, in which the urban dimension is transfigured into a spiritual experience.

From a textual standpoint, the oratorio presents a refined and original structure: the poem in Roman dialect alternates with brief passages in Latin, creating an interplay of linguistic registers that recalls the liturgical tradition while at the same time enhancing the expressive concreteness of the popular language.

The event is the result of a significant collaboration between the Associazione Culturale Romaeterna Cantores, presided over by Maestro Porfiri, the Centro Studi sulla Cultura e l’Immagine di Roma, chaired by Professor Marcello Fagiolo dell’Arco, son of the poet, and the Fondazione Santa Francesca Romana, presided over by Deacon Massimiliano Floridi.

Ponte dell’angeli thus presents itself not only as a musical event, but as a cultural and spiritual experience capable of bringing together tradition, Roman identity, and reflection on the mystery of the Passion.
