Camille Saint‐Saëns: Samson Et Dalila

O wydarzeniu

Conflict, jealousy, lust, deceit… all the most important elements of a great plot combine in Camille Saint‐Saëns' biblical tale. This new production, directed by the acclaimed Paco Azorín at Seville's Teatro de la Maestranza, seeks to find contemporary resonance — and need not look far from the opera's original setting.

With Gregory Kunde and Nancy Fabiola Herrera in the title roles, there can be no doubt that Saint‐Saëns' rich score, dripping with sensuality and Eastern exoticism, will be well‐served under the baton of Jacques Lacombe. Duelling for supremacy, in war, in love, and through music, this is a power struggle for the ages, and a classic that has caught popular imagination for millennia.

Powerful, moving, thought provoking. Strong lead voices and cleverly related to the present.
