Gran Teatre del Liceu

The Gran Teatre del Liceu is located on the famous Rambla promenade in Barcelona’s old city center. With its 2,292 seats, the Liceu is one of the biggest opera houses in Europe and one of the most spectacular. Built in 1847, the horseshoe‐shaped theatre was inspired by Milan's Teatro alla Scala. The original Gran Teatre del Liceu was faithfully reproduced after a fire in 1994, with the addition of greatly improved technical, rehearsal, office and educational facilities, a new rehearsal hall, a new chamber opera and small performance hall, and enlarged public spaces.
