Richard Wagner's attempts to build a festival theater in Baden‐Baden have long been recognized. However, lesser known are his visits to the highly esteemed soprano and singing teacher, Pauline Viardot, who resided in Baden‐Baden with her husband, Louis Viardot, a French impresario. It is believed that Wagner engaged in discussions with Viardot, seeking her expertise in French and Italian opera singing, as well as exploring the differences between his desired combination of bel canto and text comprehensibility. Kirill Petrenko, the renowned conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker, boasts a successful repertoire of Wagnerian operas. Therefore, it brings great joy to music enthusiasts that selections from "Tannhäuser" and the first act of "Die Walküre" will be showcased at the upcoming 2024 Easter Festival.
