Join the celebrated Vogler Quartet as they continue their Konzerthaus season with Haydn, Wolfgang Rihm, and Brahms' G Major String sextet, for which they are joined by guests Moorcraft and Meyer.
Rihm's early 'String Quartet No. 2', written in the composer's teens, illustrates the emergence of an individual voice, while the second of Haydn's 'Apponyi' Quartets shows the venerated composer finding a more flamboyant style, follwoing his first visit to London. Brahms' Sextet — his second for strings — revels in a rare combination of exoticism and harmonic innovation to draw vivid colors from a string pallete.
