Delight in two of the most successful string octets in the chamber music canon. Sayako Kusaka, concertmaster of the Konzerthaus Orchestra, leads her colleagues in Mendelssohn and Enescu.
Widely considered to be a model of compositional perfection, the spritely energy and youthful verve of Mendelssohn's Octet has made it an audience favorite as well. Enescu's work is its natural successor, though adopting a more concerted approach than Mendelssohn's work, in which the first violin stands apart from the other instruments.
