Netherlands Philharmonic: Peer Gynt & Enigma Variations

Az eseményről

Elgar, Grieg, and Delius were contemporaries and are at the center of this program.

It was through Grieg that Delius visited Norway and considered the country with its overwhelming nature his spiritual home, and wrote two song cycles on texts by Norwegian poets. Renowned soprano Sally Matthews joins the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra for a bright and beautiful composition written by Delius for Grieg's wife, who was a singer. Also from Norway comes the modern orchestral work by Ørjan Matre. The program conducted by Simone Young also features the beloved Enigma‐variations by Elgar.
