Frederic Chopin
Frederic Chopin lengyel zeneszerző és zongoraművész volt a romantikus korszakban (19. század eleje). Elsősorban zongoraszólókat írt, de zongoraversenyeket, kamaradarabokat és lengyel szövegekre írt dalokat is. Nemzedékének vetélytárs nélküli költői zsenijeként ismert. Valójában ő alkotta meg a hangszeres ballada fogalmát, előadásait pedig érzékenységükről és finom megkülönböztetésükről ismerték. Élete nagy részét Párizsban töltötte, ahol a szalonok meghitt hangulatú termeiben lépett fel. Élete nagy részében rossz egészségi állapotban szenvedett. Ennek következtében meglehetősen fiatalon, 39 évesen halt meg, valószínűleg tuberkulózisban.

Philippe Alegre was excellent. we got to St Julien le Pauvre early so we could have the best seats. his style of playing is very clean and his phrasing was really beautiful. he played a number of Chopin compositions — I love everything Chopin but particular enjoyed his Nocturne #20 C sharp and Nocturne #1 B flat minor, No 2 E flat Major and expecially Fantasie impromptuminor and
