演出简介

The Tonkünstler invite the audience to share a moment of peace and quiet in the festive season with works by Franz Schubert and Camille Saint‐Saëns. The festive programme features a group of famous soloists as well as the Wiener Singverein under Music Director Andrés Orozco‐Estrada.

Franz Schubert was able to express the holiness of a peace of mind in his sacred works like no other: his Mass in A‐flat major is not the expression of a religious gesture but the well‐formulated will to defeat death. The festive magnificence that is the evening’s motto is first introduced by one of the most famous works for orchestra and organ: Camille Saint‐Saëns’ «Organ Symphony». The French cosmopolitan later remarked on his last symphonic work: «I gave everything I could composing it … never again will I write something like that.»

Please note the change of soloists: Instead of Genia Kühmeier, Camilla Tilling will sing the soprano solo in Schubert's Mass.
