The Tippett Quartet: Spitalfields Music Summer Festival

The Tippett Quartet presents works by Beethoven and Haydn and contemporary works by Payne and Tippett at the Spitalfields Music Summer Festival 2011.

This compact and perfectly formed programme is a mix of the old and new. Beethoven’s energetic quartet Op 95, is followed by Anthony Payne’s first quartet and Michael Tippett’s tuneful String Quartet No.1 completed in 1943. The programme will end with the grandfather of the string quartet, Joseph Haydn and his last quartet Op.103.
