OBC & Tcholitch: Toldrà, Prokofiev & Beethoven

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya, with pianist Mladen Tcholitch, will perform works by Toldrà, Prokofiev, and Beethoven at the beautiful Auditori of Barcelona.

The symphony that changed the course of musical history, one of the works that marked the transition from Classicism to complete Romanticism, the famous "Eroica", is the star of this concert. The history that surrounds the creation of the work, the composer’s intentions in creating it, its melodic, harmonic, and orchestral score, the formal originality, and its ambition make this work one of the starting points of an entire artistic movement: Romanticism. In this concert, we will also hear the delightful Scherzo from La Filla del Marxant by Eduard Toldrà, and the most popular of Prokofiev’s concertos will be performed by the winner of the 2008 Maria Canals award.
