The Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya, conducted by Frank Strobel, will perform Richard Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier" at the beautiful Auditori of Barcelona.

In the mid‐1920s, Richard Strauss and his librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal embarked on an adventure of collaboration to create a film based on his opera "Der Rosenkavalier" which premiered in 1911. They were joined by film director Robert Wiene and an international cast. Strauss himself conducted the orchestra on the day of the film’s premiere in Dresden and also on its first screening in London, which gives some idea of how important this work was to be for the composer. Its recovery by the OBC is huge news and has become a concert – with images – of great interest.
