The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra performs Gustav Mahler's Sixth "Tragic" Symphony in Brussels.

Pretty well all over the world the years 2010 and 2011 are being marked by tributes to Gustav Mahler, on the occasion of his double anniversary. Mahler has, after all, become one of the most played and most loved — by both orchestras and audiences — of all composers over recent decades. The name of Michael Tilson Thomas has long been associated with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, one of the finest orchestras in the US. They will present their vision of Mahler's Sixth Symphony, a monumental, dramatic work whose "Tragic" nickname came from the composer himself.
