Counter‐tenor Philippe Jaroussky is accompanied by Ensemble L’Arpeggiata under the direction of Christina Pluhar, in a performance of early baroque Italian song at the Grand Théâtre de Provence.

Seventeenth century Italy: the legendary age of Caccini, Monteverdi and Rossi, in a country of beauty and voluptuous hedonism. At the theatre and in church, the soaring melodies of the castrati reign, making crowds swoon and ladies faint.
