The rehabilitation of the English flute

The English flute wrongly counts less honourable, as it was invented in prehistoric times. In the 17th and 18th century with the invention of the transverse flute she disappeares widely and was discovered at the begin of the 20th century. But than the problems start: it was used mainly for pedagogic purpose and its reputation as a solo instrument was hardly damaged.

The concert of Vivaldi and Sammartine performed by the Chamber orchestra of Berlin reveal the virtuosity of this instrument framed by two barock concerts for violine and a suite.
