Volksoper Vienna: The Gypsy Baron

演出简介

Second only to 'Die Fledermaus', the 'Gypsy Baron' is the most successful operetta written by Johann Strauß. The reason is enchanting music such as “Ja, das alles auf Ehr” and “Borstenvieh und Schweinespeck“ which transports the audience to another place and time. Hungarian colour, the ambiance of the Puszta, the crashing sound of the cymbals, melancholic melodies and folkloric dance rhythms are the trade marks of the 'Gypsy Baron”.

The young Bulgarian Valentina Simeonova studied opera direction with Götz Friedrich. Following an engagement as choreographer for Doris Dörrie's new staging of Puccinis 'Turandot' at the Berlin State Opera she directed “L'Italiana in Algeri” in March 2004 at the Klagenfurt Stadttheater and scored a hit with her excellent interpretation of Rossini’s opera.
