Volksoper Vienna: Robert Stolz Gala

演出简介

Who has not fallen in love a thousand times…with the melodies of Robert Stolz? 125 years after his birth the Volksoper Wien celebrates the genius of the last 'waltz king' and Austria's best known popular song composer with five evening concerts. Although he was born in Graz, the premiere of his operetta 'A trip around the world in 80 minutes' (1937) which he also directed, earned Stolz the right to call the Volksoper home. Other opening nights directed by the composer which hold pride of placeinclude 'Spring Parade'(1964) and 'Venus in Silk'(1970). Shortly before his death a new production of 'Zwei Herzen im Dreivierteltakt'(1975) was performed at the Volksoper. His friend Marcel Prawy kept the memory of Robert Stolz alive with his stage show 'Servus Du' (1992). The programme will feature the Volksoper Orchestra and soloists singing many of the best known melodies from the master (from 'Du sollst der Kaiser meiner Seele sein' and 'Auch du wirst mich einmal betrügen' to 'Ob blond, obbraun' and 'Die ganze Welt ist himmelblau') as well as a few charming but lesser‐known Stolz gems.
