Romeo and Juliet in Leipzig

演出简介

Romeo and Juliet's love story belongs to the world! A piece of world literature! To this day, the story of these young star‐crossed lovers never fails to move and inspire audiences and artists alike. Mirko Mahr, director of the Musical Comedy Ballet ‐Musikalische Komödie-, tells the story in a new production for a young audience. The expressive abilities of dance are the perfect medium for the performance of this Shakespeare material and the great feelings of love, hate, forgiveness, revenge and friendship that are produced in it.

Sergei Prokofiev's ballet music clearly characterizes the psychological aspects of the various figures and the relationships between them, whether they be the impatient hearts of the young couple, the bitter dispute between the Capulets of Verona and the Montagues, or Romeo's blind rage and pain over the death of his friend Mercutio. Nothing can stop the power of fate, leaving young lovers with no choice but to be together in death. This makes 'Romeo and Juliet' one of the most tragic, but also the most beautiful, ballet stories in which death makes pure love immortal.
