Here is an exciting and sometimes contrasting program. If Bach's duets deploy this sovereign counterpoint typical of Leipzig's Kantor, the Songs of the Dawn and the Theme and Variations are animated by all the hallucinatory and anxious exaltation of the last Schumann. The Hungarian Rhapsody No. 19 by Liszt, reworked by Busoni, finally offers the opportunity for a stunning pyrotechnics. Nothing that frightens Miroslav Kultyshev, as technically impressive as musically fascinating.
