Magdalena Kozena & Yefim Bronfman: Brahms songs, Mussorgsky and Shostakovich

演出简介

Works of German Romanticism meet three rarely heard song cycles by Eastern European composers in Magdalena Kožená and Yefim Bronfman’s concert. Following a group of Brahms songs in the first half, the two artists perform Mussorgsky’s Nursery—scenes from childhood on the composer’s own texts—and Shostakovich’s Satires, five songs that, despite their parodistic style, also contain dark undertones. Bartók’s Village Scenes, which are based on old Slovak ceremonial melodies, conclude the program.
