Let your mind's eye wander as it will. José Cura conducts the Prague Symphony in three works that cannot fail to inspire the visual, as well as the aural.
The juxtaposition of aural and visual elements was a preoccupation for Debussy, and his 'The Submerged Cathedral' and the three diverse cultures of his 'Images for Orchestra' demonstrate the Frenchman's extraordinary impressionist talents. Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' is more literal, basing each movement on a work by the composer's friend, the Russian painter and architect, Viktor Hartmann.
