Delight in the drama of Shakespeare, as rendered by Barber and Tchaikovsky. Artist in Residence, word‐renowned Dutch soprano Eva‐Maria Westbroek sings arias and song cycles by Barber, while Gustavo Gimeno explores Tchaikovsky's Shakespearean 'Fantasy‐Overtures' at the head of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

If the Russian composer's imagination was fired by 'The Tempest' and 'Romeo & Juliet', Shakespeare has his moment in Barber, too, with 'Antony and Cleopatra', composed for the great Leontyne Price. Westbroek also sings excerpts from Barber's Vanessa, and the childhood remniscences of 'Knoxville: Summer of 1915'.
