The bass baritone star Bryn Terfel plays Sir John Falstaff in this witty production of Verdi's last opera by French director Dominique Pitoiset.
Falstaff is a bright comedy freely based on Shakespeare and composed by Giuseppe Verdi as he was approaching the age of 80. The story revolves around the buffoon‐like figure of Sir John Falstaff, a fat knight who desires to seduce two rich married women. Defying the conventions of 19th century Italian opera, Falstaff offers a gallery of eccentric characters brought to life by the humorous production.
