Zimmermann & Royal Stockholm Philharmonic: Dresden Music Festival

演出简介

A home game for a seventieth birthday: the Dresden Music Festival is delighted to host the birthday concert of Hartmut Haenchen, a native of Dresden, whose broad repertoire ranges from early to contemporary music and who was the Festival’s artistic director from 2003 to 2008.

At the helm of the tradition‐steeped Royal Orchestra from Stockholm and together with the charismatic violist Tabea Zimmermann, he honors another anniversary: that of Benjamin Britten, who reflected the atmosphere of a lamenting love song by the great composer John Dowland in his 'Lachrymae'. Schubert’s 'Great' Symphony in C‐Major forms an intriguing contrast with this – none less than Robert Schumann admired the 'bright, flowering and romantic life' it depicted.
