Opening Concert: Music Festival Grafenegg
演出简介
An outstanding vocal line‐up, featuring Mojca Erdmann, Ian Bostridge, Gerald Finley and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, promise an evening of festive glory under the direction of Andrés Orozco‐Estrada.
The choir’s words «Und es ward Licht» announce the beginning of Creation, so masterly set to music by Joseph Haydn. Before the great oratorio, a fanfare by 2012’s composer in residence James MacMillan will sound at the opening of the Music Festival. Both works translate spiritual content into music.
There’s a special feeling in the air when you step through the gates of Grafenegg to plunge into the open atmosphere of this Music Festival. Here is a fascinating combination of past and future, tangible in the contrast between the old castle and the modern open‐air stage, Wolkenturm. On mild summer evenings, performances are in the open; in poor weather, the Auditorium opens its doors.
