A City Searches for a Murderer: Opera in One Act — Komische Oper Berlin

演出简介

Ask the difficult questions with Barrie Kosky and internationally‐acclaimed baritone Scott Hendricks, as they explore themes of culpability and capacity in Moritz Eggert's musical interpretation of Fritz Lang's legendary 1931 film.

Among the first German language films with spoken dialogue, Lang's film is infused with the atmosphere of 1920s Berlin, and can well be counted one of the first psychodramas, as the Murderer is pursued by his own compulsions, by denizens of the city of all types and classes, and even, seemingly, by the city itself. Eggert's multi‐genre score taps into this complex, surreal contained universe, and creates a soundscape as diverse as the citizens who inhabit this creative world.
