Four Elements, Four Seasons: Vivaldi & Rebel

О событии

The Dijon Opera presents the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, performing in a choreographed concert of Baroque music at the Grand Théâtre.

Ancient music and song were among the first passions of the Basque choreographer and dancer Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola, before working with Emio Greco, Pieter C. Scholten, and then joining the dance company of Sasha Waltz. No surprise then that he should embrace this daring project to juxtapose Jean‐Féry Rebel’s Four Elements – a Baroque “Big Bang” where matter slowly arises out of chaos — and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, where the four elements transform and combine with the changing of the seasons. Here, too, sounds and movements call out and reply in this resolutely atypical performance: the musicians of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin do not accompany so much as become an integral part of the choreography, ebbing and flowing in waves and flurries, engaging in a pas de deux with the dancers…

At the crossroads between music and dance, this is a creation for music aficionados who love dance and dance fans who love music.
