At this concert the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Yang Shen, winner of the 2007 Cardiff competition will perform works by Rachmanninov, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, and Mussorgsky.

Rachmaninov considered "The Bells" his best work. It’s based on E. A. Poe’s poem of the four colours of the bell. With Tchaikovsky’s popular Slav March and arias from Russian operas sung by Shenyang, winner of the 2007 Cardiff competition, and conducted by Zhang Guoyong — a student of Rozhdestvensky — this will make a perfect night of Russian music.
