Enjoy a wonderful concert with the Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona and great contralto Ewa Podles with works by Prokofiev and Montsalvatge.

Pablo González opens his second season as conductor of the OBC together with two large Catalan choirs:  the Orfeó Català and the Cor Madrigal who, together with the always warmly welcomed Polish contralto Ewa Podles, will be performing the epic music Prokofiev composed for Einstein's film about Russian hero Alexander Nevski. This season marks the centenary of the birth of Catalan composer Xavier Montsalvatge. The emotional Cant Espiritual, with lyrics by Joan Maragall, the centenary of whose death is being commemorated as well, will be on the programme. Two great works from the choral symphonic repertoire which are preceded by Prokofiev's classic Symphony, an initial exercise that bears his stamp without forgetting the roots of the genre.
