OBC & Emmanuel Krivine: Strauss & Debussy

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya, conducted by Emmanuel Krivine, will perform works by Johann and Richard Strauss and Debussy at the beautiful Auditori of Barcelona.

Johann Strauss II was much more than the composer of an infinity of waltzes and polkas. He was a symphony composer of the utmost interest, who aroused the admiration of none other than Brahms. His skill is demonstrated by his delightful overture to the operetta "Die Fledermaus", which opens this programme. And the orchestra will perform the beautiful Oboe Concerto of another Strauss (Richard) – no relation to the previous one – an example of the refinement rooted in the neo‐Classical at a period in his creative life. The programme will close  with "Images" by Debussy. It is a light composition, full of colour and with great evocative power.
