OBC: Schumann´s Symphonies 2 & 4

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya will perform the Second and Fourth Symphonies of Robert Schumann at the beautiful Auditori of Barcelona.

If necessary, and always in benefit of subjective expression, like the good Romantic that he was, Schumann would sacrifice traditional forms when composing. This can be seen in many of his works, primarily in the shorter pieces, in songs and works for piano, and also in large‐format and perhaps more ambitious compositions, such as the symphonies. The Second and the Fourth are good examples of this, and in them Schumann – probably the most romantic of the romantic composers – opens his heart to us, talks to us in confidence about himself and his internal world.
