To the delight of many ballet lovers, Romeo and Juliet — the ballet version of the Shakespeare classic — returns to the Finnish National Ballet. This was the work that propelled its choreographer, the ingenious storyteller John Cranko, to world fame.

Romeo gate‐crashes a ball given by the Capulets, sworn enemies of his family. At the ball, he meets their daughter Juliet and falls in love with her. She returns his feelings, but the feelings of hatred and bitterness that exist between their families stand in the way of their happiness.
