Les Agrémens

Les Agrémens perform works by Haydn and Beethoven under the baton of Guy Van Waas.
 

Performing on period instruments, Les Agrémens concentrate mainly on the Classical and Romantic repertoire, an inexhaustible source of musical treasures. In this concert they present works by two great masters of the symphony, Haydn and Beethoven. Haydn wrote 104 symphonies; his "London" symphonies (including No. 101) are among his finest achievements. Beethoven's nine symphonies are, of course, central, unchallenged monuments of the history of music. The Eighth, which will be heard in this concert, may not be the best known, overshadowed as it is by its two mighty neighbours, the Seventh and the Ninth. Beethoven himself, however, was highly satisfied with it and rated it more highly than the Seventh.
