Liverpool Philharmonic: The Emperor Concerto

In his UK debut, Ainars Rubikis, winner of the Third International Gustav Mahler Conducting competition, conducts the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and pianist Artur Pizarro.

The legendary conductor Herbert Blomstedt, one of the jurors of the competition, said "He was the most poetical of them all, the most soulful, who created an atmosphere that was very charged without being histrionic."  Jonathan Nott, Principal Conductor of Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and president of the Mahler Conducting Competition jury commented,"This year, as with Gustavo Dudamel in 2004, we have found an exceptional conductor."  Gramophone magazine recently featured him  as "One to Watch" .
