Chicago Chamber Musicians: Honouring Schumann

О событии

CCM honours the bicentennial of Robert Schumann with a programme showcasing the vitality of his music.

Schumann's Adagio and Allegro is “quite possibly the finest piece ever written for horn,” according CCM co‐founder and hornist, Gail Williams, and the Piano Trio takes a more experimental approach to the harmonies of the time, offering an adventurous and lively exploration into Schumann’s later years. Bruch wrote Eight Pieces for his clarinetist son; the influence of Schumann can be heard in its Romantic swells. Though written when he was a student, Dohnányi’s Piano Quintet stands worthy among the greatest quintets of the Romantic era, garnering high praise from even Brahms, who proclaimed “I couldn’t have written it better myself.”

Celebrate Schumann and the joys of chamber music with a concert in Chicago.
