Children's Concert: Snow Maiden

О событии

The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra performs a concert for children, under the baton of Ricardas Sumila.

When you listen to the music by the Russian composer Rimsky‐Korsakov, it seems as though you were turning the pages of a fairy tale book. His symphonic poem “Sheherazade” is a real voyage through the Arab world, while “Snow Maiden” reveals fantastic images of nature. Snow Maiden tells of a conflict between eternity, natural forces, and man. There are fairy tale characters, like Grandfather Frost, Spring Beauty, and Wood Sprite, as well as charming and poetic near‐human characters, like the Snow Maiden or Lel. Human beings Kupava and Mizgir also have their place in the story.

The excerpts performed by the orchestra, young actors, and soloists, with conductor Ričardas Šumila tell a musical fairy tale for children.

The arias are performed in Russian and Lithuanian.
