First‐hand

О событии

The number "one" and its uniqueness itself lends the programme its title. In his first season as principal conductor of the Tonkünstler, Andrés Orozco‐Estrada conducts several first symphonies.

This time, the first symphony of Brahms is on the programme. Another first work is the Piano Concerto in D flat major by Sergei Prokofiev. Unprecedented and thus unique was the determination with which pianist Paul Wittgenstein continued his career after having lost his right arm during the First World War. Among the numerous compositions the Vienna‐born artist commissioned for himself, Maurice Ravel’s concerto "For the Left Hand" has become world‐famous.
