The Budapest Spring Festival presents a concert with the famous Nigel Kennedy Quintet performing a programme based on compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach and Duke Ellington.

The eccentric violin virtuoso who is practically at home in Budapest first presented his Bach–Ellington programme in London in September 2009 with the famous Philharmonia Orchestra. Bach has always been much appreciated among jazz musicians, who have enjoyed improvising on his works and there are countless arrangements and settings. At his festival concert, Kennedy, who always takes an informal tone with his audience, will proceed not from the Baroque master towards jazz, but in the opposite direction: he will look up at Bach’s colossal oeuvre from the world of jazz.
