Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, choir and vocal soloists in a performance of two of the most familiar and well‐loved works of the choral and orchestral repertoire.

Carl Orff's Carmina burana has become one of the world’s most popular musical works. Although they may not know it by name, everyone has certainly heard it before. Having been featured in innumerous films and commercials, the music has a very broad appeal. Its simple song formations combine with popular melodies and driving rhythms. Schubert’s 8th "Unfinished" Symphony, with its blend of joy, resignation, desperate protest, and grandiosity, is an added bonus for these concerts.

This programme offers a surprising combination buoyant rhythms and darkly moving melody.
